Tim Tebow reportedly offered contract by Venezuelan winter league baseball team

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow receives an offer to play baseball in the Venezuelan winter league.
Giving up on his NFL dreams, college football legend Tim Tebow has turned his attention to the sport of baseball. Before he showcased his talents for MLB teams, the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback received an offer from a Venezuelan winter league baseball team.
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, Tebow’s representatives received an offer from Aguilas del Zulia on the eve of his open tryout for MLB teams.
“Aguilas del Zulia, a five-time champion of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League and two-time Caribbean Series winner, sent a contract to Tebow’s representation at CAA on Monday in hopes of securing him for the league filled with major leaguers and on-the-rise prospects,” Passan wrote.
“While Tebow expects to map out his future in the coming weeks, one source familiar with his plans told Yahoo Sports he has interest in playing winter ball.”
Tebow is unlikely to make any decisions until he hears how major league teams feel about his tryout on Tuesday. That being said, this is a real opportunity for him to prove himself against legitimate competition.
“He’s a great talent,” Aguilas general manager Luis Amaro said according to Passan. “I know baseball is a hard game, but he’ll either adjust and show he’s ready to play pro ball or not. I think it’s low risk, high reward for Zulia.”
The Venezuelan winter league is an extremely competitive league that would be a fantastic opportunity for Tebow to prove himself on a high level. That being said, with strong prospects and actual major league players in the league, Tebow could easily get exploited.
If Tebow does take this opportunity with Aguilas, the results may not be pretty. That being said, it is an opportunity to show if he belongs or not against strong competition.
He definitely has the skills and athleticism to make this transition happen, and nobody has ever questioned Tebow’s will to win. However, baseball is not an easy sport to just pick up on the run.
No matter where he lands, Tebow will be playing with guys who have played the game their entire lives. He has not played baseball competitively since his junior year in high school.
