The Detroit Tigers have signed their top pick in the June amateur draft to minor league contract with a $3.45 million bonus.

Florida high school infielder Nick Castellanos signed with the Tigers before Monday night's deadline. He was taken 44th overall, and the bonus is the highest for a supplemental-round pick in at least a decade.

The Tigers received two supplemental choices after the first round for losing free agent relievers Fernando Rodney and Brandon Lyon.

Castellanos had a scholarship offer to play at the University of Miami.
