Tigers RHP Greene leaves start vs Indians with blister

Published Apr. 24, 2016 4:08 p.m. ET

DETROIT (AP) Detroit Tigers starter Shane Greene left Sunday's game against the Cleveland Indians in the fourth inning with a blister on his pitching hand.

After walking the first batter of the inning, the right-hander signaled to the bullpen and was joined by manager Brad Ausmus and trainer Kevin Rand. After a brief conversation, Greene left the game and was replaced by Drew VerHagen.

Greene finished last season on the disabled list because of a circulatory problem that caused numbness in his right hand. This, though, was a simple burst blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand.

He left the game about 15 minutes after Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco came out with a leg injury.
