The Detroit Tigers have placed reliever Darin Downs on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury.

The team said Sunday that the left-hander has tendinitis in his rotator cuff. Downs gave up a two-run homer to Ryan Raburn in the ninth inning of Saturday's 9-4 win over the second-place Indians.

The 28-year-old has appeared in 26 games, going 0-2 with a 5.18 ERA. In his last six outings, Downs has a 9.00 ERA.

The Tigers also recalled right-hander Evan Reed from Triple-A Toledo. He was expected to arrive in time for Sunday's game. This is Reed's second stint with Detroit this season. He appeared in six games before being sent back to the minors.
