The next wacky minor-league stunt? Try Michael Jackson jersey night

OK, minor-league baseball. We get it. You're kooky.
We thought you'd done it all in thinking outside the batter's box when it comes to jersey design, from ugly Christmas sweaters to 'Ghostbusters' to bacon hats with scratch-and-sniff shirts.
But we never thought of the King of Pop having much pop at the plate. Till now.
We can thank the Gary Southshore Railcats, an independent league team in the American Association, for the latest in weird diamond threads. On Saturday, June 21, the Railcats plan to wear unique Michael Jackson-themed jerseys (HEE HEEEE!!!). See for yourself, this is not a drill . . .

As far as which era of the original MJ, the jazzy jerseys aren't designed from the Jackson Five era or his more disco-toned 1970s glitter. Instead, think more like the red-and-silver jacket the pop legend sported in the classic video for "Beat It" in 1982.
Why Jackson? The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was born in Gary, Ind., and he has actually been honored by the team previously.
But the jerseys appear to be a real Thriller (umm, crickets . . . anyone?). Here are the details of the look:
The Railcats uniform is patterned off of Jackson’s famous red and silver jacket worn in the music video for “Beat It” in 1982. It will include their alternate “G” logo on the chest of the “jacket” and also have a patch for “End Polio Now” on the left sleeve.
Player numbers and the shoulders will have a faux “shimmery” pattern.
But sorry, people. No sparkly baseball gloves, even on a large diamond.
