The Nationals put Stephen Strasburg on the DL with a mysterious 'sore elbow'

Washington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness, the team announced Monday.
It's the second DL stint in two months for Strasburg, who missed 17 games in June due to upper back stiffness.
While Strasburg is currently tied for most wins in the NL with 15, the right-hander struggled tremendously in his last three starts, including a career-worst seven-run inning last week at Coors Field. In addition to his disastrous start in Colorado, Strasburg allowed six earned runs in his previous start and failed to pitch five innings in the outing before that.
Nationals pitching coach Mike Maddux recently dismissed reporters' questions about a potential injury for Strasburg, saying the ace pitcher is "fine" health-wise, but Monday's DL move says differently.
Injured or not, as the Nationals prepare for what they hope will be a deep run into the postseason, a two-week rest could end up being exactly what their ace needs.
