Lifelong baseball fans Joe Curiale and Dolly West tied the knot on a mini diamond while guests did the wave during All-Star festivities in Phoenix Tuesday.

Just hours before the American League and National League went head to head in Major League Baseball's All-Star game at Chase Field, the couple from Humble, Texas, were married at the All-Star FanFest in the nearby Phoenix Convention Center, surrounded by flowers resembling baseballs, MLB.com reported.

"This is a man's dream," Curiale said. "All of this, it was the best feeling in the entire world. It was amazing."

"It's so much more than I imagined," West added.

The pair met at Continental Airlines flight attendant training three years ago and, once they started dating, began arranging layovers in different cities so they could spend time together, also managing to take in games at more than 20 major league ballparks along the way.

Two months ago the league asked fans to submit stories explaining why they deserved an All-Star wedding, complete with ceremony, catered reception for 50 guests, a ring package, round-trip airfares and two tickets to the game.

"Baseball is more than just a game to us," West said in the winning submission. "It's a way for us to be together. We're hoping baseball can make us a part of its world as much as it has already been a part of ours."

Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton was the special guest and signed the home plate on the diamond they were married on.

"You have to be a real fan to do this," Upton said. "I thought it was a great idea. They're obviously big baseball fans. It was definitely cool to see and be a part of."
