Speedy Billy Hamilton takes over Reds leadoff spot

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton is a very impatient person. He eats fast, talks fast and likes to get places without wasting any time.

He's made it to the top of Cincinnati's lineup after only 13 steals in the majors.

The 23-year-old outfielder will get a chance to play center field and bat leadoff this season, taking over Shin-Soo Choo's spot. Hamilton is doing it after spending only one season at Triple-A with mixed results as a hitter.

Hamilton made a tantalizing big league debut last September. He had 13 steals in 14 attempts, used primarily as a pinch-runner.

Hamilton set a professional record by stealing 155 bases in the minors in 2012. Now he gets to see how his speed translates to the majors on an everyday basis.
