The Kansas City Royals have activated Chris Getz from the 15-day disabled list and put him in the starting lineup at second base.

Getz was set to play Monday night in the series opener against the Miami Marlins.

Getz has been out since July 28 with a sprained left knee. He hit .300 in five rehab games with Triple-A Omaha. Getz hit .209 with one home run and 14 RBIs in 53 games for Kansas City before the injury.

The Royals also put infielder Jamey Carroll on the roster after acquiring him in a trade Sunday with the Minnesota Twins.
