Ron Washington set to return to Arlington with A's on Tuesday

The Oakland Athletics coming to Globe Life Park in Arlington to battle the Texas Rangers this week presents an intriguing narrative beginning on Tuesday night: it will mark the return of former manager Ron Washington.
The A's added Washington to their coaching staff in May to help young shortstop Marcus Semien find his way as a defensive player (and so far, they're pleased with what they've seen). As a result, Tuesday night will mark the first time Washington has appeared at the park since he stepped down as Rangers manager on September 5, 2014.
'Wash' doesn't sit with the A's coaches in the dugout since they already have the maximum number of personnel on their staff, but he does watch the game from up in the press box area - so he will be on-hand for the series, and will presumably take part in pregame/warmup activities with players.
Despite the emotions that could go along with Washington returning to the club with which he achieved so much over his tenure there, it sounds as if he only has fond memories of being part of the franchise. Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News quoted Washington as recently lavishing praise upon Rangers fans, saying of them that, "They were good to me. The memories of Texas will never fade.”
