Rodriguez does it all for Pirates

The nine starters are certainly important, but often it's a team's bench and depth that proves to be the difference.
Not all nine starters can play all 162 games so a team's success can sometimes rely upon those called upon to fill in the gaps. and if that's the situation the Pirates find themselves in this season then they're in good shape.
Sean Rodriguez has played in 26 games for the Pirates and started ar four different positions and his value cannot be understated.
"He's been a very good addition. There's a lot to like about him," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle told Pirates.com. "The defensive versatility. The swing has played well. The determined focus. The interaction with players."
Not only has Rodriguez beena good clubhouse presence, but he's also contributed on the field as well. Through his first 26 games, Rodriguez is hitting .382.
While that average will surely drop over time if Rodriguez can continue to perform at a high level, it's not too far-fetched to believe the Pirates may be looking at a third consecutive postseason berth.
