Rockies draftee Tyler Nevin learns from father's minor league players

Last week the Rockies signed their third Draft pick, No. 38 overall, Tyler Nevin. The 18-year-old third baseman is the son of Phil Nevin -- former major leaguer and No. 1 overall pick in the 1992 MLB Draft.
While Tyler Nevin has certainly learned much from his father throughout the years, Phil Nevin’s current position has also proven insightful for the younger Nevin. According to Purple Row, Tyler Nevin said:
“But now he's coaching in the minor leagues and I've seen firsthand guys that have spent five, six, seven, eight years in the minor leagues working their way to the big leagues and I'm ready for it."
Phil Nevin has been the manager of the Triple-A Reno Aces since 2014. He’s been managing in the minors since 2009.
