Major League Baseball revenue this year set a record by surpassing $8 billion, a souce told Forbes, and it's expected to approach $9 billion next year with the start of lucrative new TV contracts.

MLB's revenue, which was around $7.5 billion last year, gets a boost of almost $1 billion next year with new national broadcast contracts.

The Dodgers' new TV deal, which reportedly is between $7 billion and $8 billion over 10 years, also is on track to be approved, sources say.
