Report: Former MLB pitcher Lilly charged with insurance fraud

Former MLB starting pitcher Ted Lilly faces a maximum of five years in prison on three felony counts of insurance fraud, according to a report Thursday from KSBY.

Lilly, who pitched for six different teams in a 15-year career, pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this week. As reported by KSBY, Lilly is accused of damaging his RV worth about $200,000 but not filing a claim until after purchasing insurance.

"I can tell you that he's charged with three different felony counts," Assistant District Attorney Lee Cunningham told KSBY. "The first is filing a false insurance claim. The second one is a false statement in support of a claim and the third one has to do with failing to disclose a material fact in connection with an insurance claim."

Lilly last pitched for the Dodgers before retiring in 2013. He went to two All-Star Games, in 2004 and 2009, and finished with a career record of 130-113.

Lilly is due back in court on Feb. 5.
