Report: Fans hold anti-McCourt rally

Disgruntled Dodgers fans held a rally near Dodger Stadium on Saturday in attempts to persuade owner Frank McCourt to sell the team, NBC Los Angeles reported.

Roger Arrieta, who organized the rally, urged fans to boycott the game against the San Diego Padres.

McCourt has said he doesn't plan to sell the team and hopes to pass it along to his sons.

"it's going to take a lot to change his mind," Arrieta said.

During McCourt's divorce from his former wife, Jamie, it was revealed that he used team profits to fund their extravagant lifestyle, which includes two homes in Holmby Hills and two in Malibu.

McCourt has blamed Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig's rejection of a media rights deal with FOX as the reason for the team's financial troubles.

The team filed for bankruptcy protection June 27.

The Dodgers had a losing record last season and are in last place in the NL West this year.

Arrieta, from West Covina, used the Internet to try to boost the number of people at the rally, publicizing it on his website, markcubansavethedodgers.com, along with Facebook and Twitter.

As the site name suggests, Arrieta hopes Mark Cuban, who owns the NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, will eventually buy the Dodgers.
