Report: Ex-outfielder Everett arrested

Former Major League Baseball player Carl Everett was facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Tuesday following a domestic spat with his wife, the St. Petersburg Times reported.

Everett, 39, was arrested Monday at his home in Lutz, Fla., just north of Tampa, after he allegedly pointed a handgun at his wife's head during an argument, according to police.

The two-time All-Star allegedly destroyed two cell phones as his wife of 18 years attempted to call police.

Everett has also been charged with tampering with a witness, according to the report.

The couple has three children.

Everett played for several teams during his 14-year career in the big leagues, including the Marlins, Mets, Astros and Red Sox.

The journeyman outfielder was a member of the Chicago White Sox World Series championship team in 2005. His last stint in the majors came in 2006 with the Seattle Mariners.
