Report: Dodgers placed Puig on waivers, revoked claim

Trade rumors surrounding Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig have reportedly been put to rest. For now, at least.
According to ESPN's Jayson Stark on Tuesday, the Dodgers placed Puig on waivers last week, and pulled him back after the 24-year-old outfielder was claimed by another team.
#Dodgers put Yasiel Puig on waivers last week, sources say. But he was claimed & pulled back. So he won't be traded this month.

While this is normal activity for a baseball team, as most players are placed on revocable waivers after the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, it signifies that Puig will not be traded for the remainder of the season, as a team can only place a player on revocable waivers once per season.
Puig is having a rough third season in the majors for the Dodgers this year. Entering Tuesday, the right fielder was hitting .241/.314/.409 with eight homers and 29 RBI, recording as many strikeouts (56) as hits in the process.
However, he homered, tripled and drove in five runs Tuesday night to back Zack Greinke in a 5-0 win over the Nationals.
