Reds option RHP Robert Stephenson, promote RHP Drew Hayes

CINCINNATI (AP) The Cincinnati Reds optioned RHP Robert Stephenson to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday and promoted RHP Drew Hayes from Triple-A Louisville.

RHP Keyvius Sampson was designated for assignment to make room for Hayes on Cincinnati's 40-man roster

Stephenson was optioned after improving his major league record to 2-0 by allowing three hits and one run in seven innings as an emergency starter in Cincinnati's 4-3 win over Colorado on Tuesday.

Hayes, Cincinnati's 11th-round draft pick in 2010, was 1-0 with a 6.23 earned-run average and one save in three games with the Bats this season.
