ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) The Boston Red Sox re-signed infielder Jeff Bianchi on Sunday, three days after he had been designated for assignment.

Bianchi was back with the Red Sox before the finale of their four-game series at Texas.

Left-hander Robbie Ross was optioned back to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Boston had initially selected Bianchi from Pawtucket on May 24, and he appeared in only one game before being designated for assignment Thursday before the Red Sox's series opener against the Rangers.
