NEW YORK (AP) Boston Red Sox left-hander Francisco Tena has been suspended for the first 50 games of the season following a positive drug test under the minor league drug program.

The commissioner's office said Thursday Tena tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol.

Tena, who will turn 19 in March, signed with the Red Sox in December. His suspension will begin at the start of the Dominican Summer League.

There have been 15 suspensions this year under the minor league program and one under the major league program - Alex Rodriguez.
