Red Sox manager Farrell ejected after challenge leads to grand slam

Red Sox manager John Farrell has been ejected in the second inning against Houston by first-base umpire Doug Eddings.

Farrell argued with Eddings and the crew after Astros manager Bo Porter won a challenge on a strange play that would have ended the inning Sunday.

Boston shortstop Xander Bogaerts picked up Marwin Gonzalez's grounder, ran to second for what looked to be a force out and fired to first for what would have been an easy inning-ending double play. The problem was Bogaerts threw the ball about a step before he touched the bag.

Two batters later, Jose Altuve hit a grand slam, making it 6-0. Farrell came out again and was tossed.
