Published Apr. 28, 2011 10:50 p.m. ET

Rangers reliever Darren O'Day has had surgery to repair a partial tear of the labrum in his left hip.

The Rangers say there were no other issues found during the surgery Thursday, which was performed by Dr. Tom Byrd in Nashville, Tenn. O'Day is expected to be on crutches for about a week, though he will begin rehabilitation immediately.

O'Day was put on the 60-day disabled list Wednesday, after going 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA in eight games this season. He made 136 appearances with a 1.99 ERA over the previous two seasons.

Texas manager Ron Washington said O'Day has been pitching with the hip problem for years but got to a point where it was bothering him.
