Puig hits 1st homer, won't be punished for club incident
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Yasiel Puig hit his first home run of spring training in a 7-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday after MLB announced that the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder wouldn't be punished for his involvement in an incident at a Miami nightclub last fall.
Puig, who had been under investigation for domestic assault involving his sister, hit a solo shot in the fourth inning over left field off Rockies starter Chad Bettis. Bettis gave up two runs on five hits over four innings.
In the fifth, Puig also robbed Colorado centerfielder Charlie Blackmon of a hit with a diving catch in right field.
Right-hander Zach Lee, a contender for the fifth spot in the Dodgers' starting rotation, worked three innings, giving up one run on three hits. He struck out one and walked one.
