Pomeranz hits disabled list, A's have options to replace him

The Oakland A's ongoing problems this season continued Wednesday morning as left-handed starter Drew Pomeranz was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder issue.
Pomeranz experienced the pain during his start against the Houston Astros on Monday night, and awoke Tuesday with what he called 'normal' post-start soreness. Apparently, Pomeranz frequently experiences the issue, AC joint pain, but the A's deemed it worthy of a look by their medical staff.
Said manager Bob Melvin of Pomeranz's pain situation to John Hickey of Inside the A's prior to his placement on the DL: “We’ll probably make a decision on where we are tomorrow. Obviously there’s a chance he will go on the DL. This is something that's been going on for a while, and we don't want it to continue to go on, but we haven't made a definitive decision."
With Pomeranz now expected out for a bit of time, the A's recalled pitcher Arnold Leon from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. But who will start in his absence? Leon is a potential candidate, though Hickey suggests that the A's might give young right-hander Kendall Graveman (2-1 with a 1.85 ERA since being optioned to Triple-A after a tough first few weeks with the A's) a look.
Of course, the A's still have veteran lefty Barry Zito toiling away in Nashville, and could also look at young lefty Sean Nolin, back in action with Triple-A after some medical issues delayed his season debut.
So far in 2015, Pomeranz was 2-3 with a 4.40 ERA in eight starts for the green and gold.
