Plate umpire Danley leaves game after foul off his facemask

PHOENIX (AP) Home plate umpire Kerwin Danley left the game between the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks after taking a sharp foul ball off his facemask Tuesday night.
Danley was able to leave the field after bending over for some time near the foul screen behind home plate.
The foul ball off the bat of Arizona's Nick Ahmed in the second inning hit Danley squarely in his facemask. The Nationals left the field while the umpire crew went inside.
The game resumed with three umpires. Gabe Morales moved from second base behind the plate. Rob Drake stayed at first base, and crew chief Joe West was at third.
Danley was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons and a possible concussion. He underwent a CT scan but the results weren't yet known, the Diamondbacks said after the game.
