Pirates' Worley enjoying life as a father

When Kai Anacleto Vivas Worley was born on October 22, 2014, Pirates' pitcher Vance Worley's life was forever changed.

"It's been a blessing," Worley told Pirates.com. "When you get to be around your family, you can check out of your ballplayer mindset, get away from the game. You're reminded of the important things in life."

However, Worley's career requires a lot of travel.

The right-hander is not home all that often, so when he is home he has to do his best to maximize the amount of time he gets to spend with his son.

"On the road, I'll wake up to text messages from Maricel about what Kai has been up to," Worley said. "He started crawling about three weeks ago, and now he's at the stage where he's trying to stand up, and he'll get frustrated. He'll be on his hands and knees, start to rise and then get wobbly."
