BALTIMORE (AP) Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Jerome Williams left Tuesday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles in the first inning with a strained left hamstring.
After his second wild pitch with David Lough at the plate, Williams raced to cover home plate as catcher Carlos Ruiz chased down the ball near Philadelphia's dugout.
Ruiz threw home, but off target, and Williams twisted his legs awkwardly trying to make the play before falling as Ryan Flaherty slid safely into home.
Williams rose to his feet under his own power, but left the game walking gingerly with the Phillies' training staff.
