Phenom Trout continues to amaze

Yeah, about that Mike Trout sophomore slump …

After a slow April (.261, two homers, 13 RBI) and whispers of opposing pitchers figuring out the reigning Rookie of the Year, Trout answered on Tuesday – in a big way.

Trout hit for the cycle in the Angels’ 12-0 win over the Mariners. Last year’s MVP runner-up finished the game 4-for-5, and at 21 became the youngest player in AL history to hit for the cycle. New York Giants legend Mel Ott is the overall youngest to accomplish the feat — in 1929, at age 20.

Trout's teammates couldn't wait to show their excitement over his accomplishment, giving him the obligatory Gatorade bath.

Here's one of Trout's four hits Tuesday night in Anaheim.

Trout, who authored one of the greatest rookie seasons in baseball history in 2012, is getting hot as the weather warms up. After Tuesday’s heroics, Trout is hitting .343 with 18 RBI in May.

When news of Trout’s accomplishment hit Twitter, his No. 1 fan immediately chimed in.

Trout also got some praise from another familiar face.

And one he might not be too familiar with.

For those familiar with Trout's exploits last year (.326, 30 HRs, 83 RBI, 49 steals), these kind of accomplishments are almost becoming expected.

But in the end, Trout showed his appreciation for all the attention he garnered.
