O's rookie welcomed to clubhouse

Orioles farmhand Kevin Gausman has been known to eat a few donuts.
In fact, the 22-year-old righty used to eat one powdered donut before taking the mound and four between each inning as one of his many baseball-related superstitions growing up. He even did it throughout his career at LSU before becoming the No. 4 overall pick in last year’s draft.
Gausman has since given up his tradition of mass in-game pastry consumption at the advice of a nutritionist, but that doesn’t mean his Orioles teammates have forgotten.
When he finally got the call-up to make his big league debut for the O’s Thursday against Toronto, they let him know it by filling his locker with boxes upon boxes of the delicious treats.
It’s actually not the first time Gausman’s big league teammates have showered him in the sweet snacks. Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones decorated Gausman’s locker with more than 1,500 of them when he arrived at spring training in Sarasota, Fla., back in February.
Thanks to @ simplyaj10 for giving me about 1,500 donuts!! I think I'm set for the whole season #PowderedGold twitter.com/KevinGausman/s…

No word on what Gausman is going to do with his new influx of donuts, but if his major league debut goes well, I’d say he’s entitled to a few (dozen) if he wants them.
