No need to worry about McCutchen

Andrew McCutchen isn't off to a blazing start at the plate, but that doesn't mean there's any reason to panic.

It's never easy to watch a team's superstar go through a slump, but Pirates fans can take solace in the fact that this may just be par for the course.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, slow Aprils are nothing new for McCutchen.

“For his career, McCutchen has a 2.59 average, .412 slugging, and a .762 OPS in April, his worst marks of any month.”

Buy why has April consistently caused the star so much struggle? No one's really sure.

“Neither the Pirates nor McCutchen are eager to discuss the slump, and don't have any ideas on how to explain his poor Aprils. While McCutchen's walk and strikeout rates remain in line with his career norms, the power is typically lacking. It's the only month of his career when he has not slugged at least .478. His line drive rate is a paltry 7.7 percent this season.”
