Washington Nationals minor league infielder Seth Bynum has been suspended 50 games for violating the minor league drug program.

The commissioner's office announced Thursday that Bynum, who plays for Triple-A Syracuse, immediately will begin serving his suspension for a positive test for an amphetamine.

The 29-year-old Bynum was hitting .248 with four homers and 17 RBIs in 105 at-bats.
