Jason Michaels is staying with the Houston Astros.

The backup outfielder agreed Monday to an $800,000, one-year contract. He batted .237 with four homers and 16 RBIs in 102 games for the Astros last season, seeing time at each spot in the outfield.

Houston also announced that left-hander Gustavo Chacin has agreed to a minor league deal that includes an invitation to spring training.

Chacin is 25-15 with a 4.18 ERA in four seasons but hasn't appeared in the majors since 2007 with Toronto.

Michaels has a .269 average, 49 homers and 263 RBIs in 836 games over nine seasons with Philadelphia, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Houston.
