Mets lift 2 prospects from Triple-A game

Published Aug. 7, 2010 1:29 a.m. ET

Two of the New York Mets' top prospects have been scratched from a minor league game, a possible prelude to a trade for the struggling major league club.

Outfielder Fernando Martinez and infielder Ruben Tejada were taken out of the lineup shortly before Triple-A Buffalo's 7-5 victory over Columbus on Friday night.

The 21-year-old Martinez has 12 homers and 33 RBIs in 68 games for Buffalo. The 20-year-old Tejada hit .212 in 35 games for the Mets before he was sent down when Luis Castillo was activated from the disabled list on July 19.

The slumping Mets lost 7-5 at Philadelphia on Friday and have dropped four of five overall.
