Mauer, Morneau will end season on Twins DL

Former MVPs Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau are officially on the Minnesota Twins' disabled list.
The Twins also placed rookie infielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka on the disabled list Saturday. All three are out for the season. The move on Mauer is retroactive to Sept. 15, while Morneau and Nishioka go back to Sept. 12.
Mauer has pneumonia. The 2009 AL MVP missed two months earlier in the year with a leg injury and hit .287 with three homers and 30 RBIs in 82 games - well off his career .327 average entering 2011.
Morneau is out with concussion symptoms, which sidelined him most of the second half of 2010. The 2006 AL MVP missed time earlier this year after neck surgery and a strained left wrist. He hit .227 with four homers and 30 RBIs in 69 games.
Nishioka has a right oblique strain. He hit .226 with no homers and 19 RBIs in 68 games.
