Marlins' Stanton held out with tight hamstring

Published Apr. 3, 2011 5:10 p.m. ET

Florida Marlins slugger Mike Stanton is being held out of the lineup against the New York Mets for the second straight game due to a tight hamstring.

The team's cleanup hitter departed Friday's opener after experiencing discomfort in his left hamstring in the fifth inning. The team said Sunday that he is day to day.

With an off-day Monday, Stanton could be back in the lineup Tuesday.

The 21-year-old right fielder hit .259 with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs as a rookie last season.
