Mariners taking part in 'Jersey Day' on 5/29 - everywhere, not just Safeco Field
As they continued their run to the Super Bowl this past season, the Seattle Seahawks inspired 'Blue Friday' in the greater Seattle area. Fans were encouraged to sport jerseys and Seahawk-related paraphernalia to garner support for the team.
It appears now that the same phenomenon is being adopted by the Seattle Mariners - at least on Friday, May 29th. According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the M's will take part in 'Jersey Day' around the league, a day in which fans are again encouraged to show their support for the Mariners, whether they're at home, school, work, or elsewhere - and then, naturally, wear those team colors to Safeco for the Mariners' game against the Cleveland Indians that evening.
The article mentions that 15 teams around the league will take part in 'Jersey Day', which seems like a fun (and relevant) way for the league to encourage fan interest as the calendar heads toward the summer months.
