Mariners reliever Lowe still having back issues

Published May. 21, 2010 9:57 p.m. ET

Mariners reliever Mark Lowe continues to have problems with an inflamed disc in his lower back, despite a couple weeks of physical therapy and an epidural shot to the effected area.

Lowe was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 5. One of Seattle's main relievers, Lowe says the inflamed disc is causing nerve problems that have made it difficult and painful to walk at times.

He could be headed for another epidural shot next week. Lowe is 1-3 with a 3.48 ERA in 11 appearances this season.

Seattle shortstop Jack Wilson, also on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain, had a setback in a minor-league rehab assignment and has returned to Seattle.
