BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) Left-hander Francisco Liriano breezed through his two innings of work on Friday as the Pittsburgh Pirates and Minnesota Twins played to a 2-2 tie after nine innings.

Liriano struck out the first four batters he faced. Ryan Sweeney hit a soft liner to second baseman Josh Harrison and John Ryan Murphy grounded out.

The Pirates' likely opening day starter, Liriano called it a day after throwing 23 pitches.

In the first inning, Harrison singled off Twins lefty Tommy Milone and scored on Startling Marte's two-out triple.
