Legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully explains what he plans to do in retirement
While most of the baseball world's focus at the moment is either on the Cubs' pursuit of a World Series title, the Indians' surprise season or whether or not the Yankees can sneak into the playoffs, there is another equally important story line which is going a bit under the radar: We are now in the final few weeks of Vin Scully's career.
The iconic broadcaster is wrapping up his 67th and final season with the Dodgers. To put that in perspective: He was hired in 1950, at a time when the Dodgers were still playing in Brooklyn. Jackie Robinson would play another six years in the big leagues after Scully called his first game for the organization.
So yeah, Vin has been around for a while, and as he creeps towards retirement, he joined "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd on Friday to discuss it all.
There, he was asked one simple question: How will he spend his retirement?
He gave a spectacular answer, in the way that only Vin Scully can (as shown in the video above):
He then continued, providing a bit more context.
Safe to say, whatever Scully's definition of "retirement," we hope he enjoys it.
In the meantime, we're going to enjoy these final few weeks with him in the booth.
Too often we call the people we cover in sports "iconic" or "legendary."
But in Scully's case, he actually lives up to both.
