KEEP IT GOING

Anibal Sanchez (10-7) tries to win his eighth straight decision when the Tigers open a three-game series at Tampa Bay. Sanchez has pitched into the seventh inning in each of his past 10 starts. The light-hitting Rays will counter with RHP Nathan Karns (5-5), who went five scoreless innings and homered in a 1-0 win Tuesday night at Philadelphia.

WELCOME BACK

Baltimore manager Buck Showalter expects Nick Markakis will get a great reaction from fans when the former Orioles star returns to Camden Yards for the first time since signing a free agent contract with the Braves during the offseason. Markakis hit .290 with 141 homers and 658 RBIs during his nine seasons with the Orioles.

ON THE ROAD

Edinson Volquez (9-5, 3.15 ERA) starts at Cleveland as the Royals open a 10-game road trip, a day before his old friend and new teammate Johnny Cueto arrives after being acquired by Kansas City in a deal Sunday with Cincinnati.

KEEP ROLLING

Giants rookie Chris Heston (10-5) looks to follow up his impressive outing at San Diego when surging San Francisco begins a three-game series at home against the Brewers. The Giants expect to get left fielder Nori Aoki back from the disabled list because of a broken right fibula that has sidelined him since June 21.

BACK IN ACTION

Texas' Matt Harrison (1-1) will take the ball in the opener of a three-game home series against the Yankees after scattering seven hits through six innings against Colorado last Tuesday for his first win in over 14 months. It will be only his third start this season and ninth over the past three years for the injury-plagued eight-year veteran.
