Kluber not ready to return for Indians

Published Sep. 12, 2015 5:59 p.m. ET

CLEVELAND (AP) Indians ace Corey Kluber remains slowed by a hamstring injury and it remains unclear when he will make his next start.

Kluber hasn't pitched since Aug. 29. The AL's reigning Cy Young Award winner threw in the bullpen and ran sprints on the field before Friday's rainout . Manager Terry Francona said Kluber ''still feels it a little bit'' and the Indians aren't rushing back the right-hander.

Francona said the Indians will continue to monitor Kluber, who has pitched better than his 8-13 record indicates. Cleveland needs him back to help in its playoff push. The Indians have won 11 of 15 to move within one game of .500.

Kluber met with Francona, pitching coach Mickey Callaway and the Indians training staff on Friday to discuss his rehab plans.
