Jeter's agent denies reports of demands

Published Nov. 27, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Derek Jeter's agent Casey Close said Saturday a published report stating the free agent shortstop was asking for a six-year, $150 million deal from the Yankees was untrue.

“The recently rumored terms of our contract proposal are simply inaccurate,” Close wrote in an email.

The Yankees and Jeter have been engaged in a standoff over what the 36-year-old shortstop deserves. The Yankees made an offer of three years, $45 million, but Jeter wants more years and money.

Neither Close nor Jeter has made it public how much more they want.
