Toronto Blue Jays left fielder and leadoff batter Fred Lewis was scratched from manager Cito Gaston's original lineup against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night because of a bunion on his left foot - the same malady that forced him to undergo surgery on his right foot in September 2008.
Lewis is batting .283 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 35 games. He tripled his first time up in Monday night's 6-0 victory and played the entire game.
Other major leaguers who had bunion problems in recent years were Jim Edmonds, Chipper Jones, Christian Guzman and Orlando (El Duque) Hernandez.
