Indians' Sizemore has knee surgery

Published Oct. 4, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore has undergone surgery on his right knee.

The team said Sizemore had arthroscopic surgery on Monday in Vail, Colo. The operation was performed by Dr. Richard Steadman, who did microfracture surgery on Sizemore's left knee last year. Sizemore should be recovered from the procedure in two months, and the 29-year-old is expected to be ready for spring training.

Sizemore, who was on the disabled list three times this season, said Steadman told him the operation should allow the bone bruise in his right knee to fully heal.

The Indians hold a $9 million option on Sizemore for next season. The three-time All-Star batted .224 with 10 homers and 32 RBI in just 71 games.
