Indians sign 2 free agents

The Indians have signed free agent infielder Jose Lopez and outfielder Felix Pie to minor league contracts for next season.

Both deals include non-roster invitations to spring training.

Lopez, a versatile former All-Star for Seattle, split last season with Colorado and Florida. The 28-year-old has a career .263 average in 955 games with the Mariners, Rockies and Marlins, who signed him last June. He spent time at Triple-A New Orleans before playing the final 32 games with the Marlins, batting .273 with six homers and 13 RBIs.

The 26-year-old Pie has played with Baltimore and the Chicago Cubs. He had his best season with the Orioles in 2009, when he batted .266 with nine homers and 29 RBIs in 101 games. He played in 85 games for Baltimore last season.
