Indians OF Pie injured, 1B Kotchman scratched

Cleveland center fielder Felix Pie ran into the wall chasing a fly ball and was helped from the field in the eighth inning of the Indians' split-squad game against Texas on Sunday.

The ball bounced on the warning track just shy of the fence, and Pie ran full speed into the wall. He remained on the ground for several minutes before the training staff slowly escorted him to the medical facilities in the Rangers' right-field clubhouse.

Pie entered in the seventh and was 0 for 1.

Indians first baseman Casey Kotchman did not play because of tightness in his lower back.

The first baseman was signed to a one-year contract as a free agent last month. He hit .306 with 10 homers and 48 RBIs last year for Tampa Bay.
