Indians' Choo leaves game

Published Aug. 28, 2011 3:00 a.m. ET

Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo left Saturday night's game against Kansas City after aggravating his sore left side.

Choo was replaced pinch-hitter Ezequiel Carrera in the fifth inning.

Choo missed two games with soreness near his back, but told Cleveland manager Manny Acta before the game that he felt good enough to play. Choo went 0 for 2.

After catching a routine fly ball hit by the Royals' Billy Butler to end the top of the fifth, Choo went to the dugout and spoke with Acta.

Choo came in batting .364 (16 for 44) with three homers in 11 games since being activated from the disabled list Aug. 12. He went on the disabled list June 24 with a broken left thumb after being hit by a pitch by San Francisco's Jonathan Sanchez.
