Hunter out for Angels with sore knee

Published May. 9, 2010 9:07 p.m. ET

Angels outfielder Torii Hunter has been held out of the lineup for Los Angeles' game at Seattle due to a sore right knee.

Hunter fouled a pitch off his knee in the fourth inning of Saturday night's win over the Mariners. Hunter remained in the game, and hit a two-run single in his next at-bat.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia says the original plan was to have Hunter serve as the designated hitter on Sunday, but decided to give him the day off instead. Robb Quinlan was the DH and Reggie Willits started in center field.

Scioscia expects Hunter to play Monday when the Angels open a homestand against Tampa Bay.
