Holliday: 'If there was a fire in here, I'm not sure I could run out'

Matt Holliday's right quadriceps muscle may not be hurt as bad as the team initially feared, but that doesn't mean he's going to be back on the field soon.

“If there was a fire in here,” Holliday told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “I’m not sure I could run out.”

Holliday injured his leg Monday and was placed on the Disabled List this week. The outfielder is likely to miss a decent amount of time.

Holliday won't have to have surgery, which is obviously good news, but he hasn't fully tested out the muscle yet to know just how long he will be out.

“It feels fine walking,” Holliday said. “It’s definitely sore. The true test will be running whenever that time comes. I feel pleased with the way it’s responded. I think as you get further away from it you have a better idea of potentially running and what it looks like then.”
