Fishin' for an Angel: Trout turns tide on Astros mascot Orbit

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:13 p.m. ET

Orbit is quietly having a "Mascot of the Year" season.

The Houston Astros mascot's most recent escapade involved Los Angeles Angels star center fielder Mike Trout.

And it's a safe guess Orbit had never seen a Trout this big before.

Orbit, known to rankle a few players, decided to have a little fun before Tuesday night’s game by posting up with a fishing pole near the three-time All-Star as the visiting outfielder warmed up.

At first, Trout played along, allowing himself to get “caught” by the furry prankster.

That’s when Orbit’s good fortune ran out.

Orbit should have known that trying to catch a 230-pound All-Star wouldn’t end well.

What did end well, however, was the baseball contest that followed, as Orbit’s Astros stormed to a seven-run lead on their way to an 8-3 win over the first-place Angels.

Trout, perhaps distracted by his close pregame encounter, went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.

One more? How about Orbit messing with Arencibia's teammate Adrian Beltre?
